  • Save a sick mother cat and her baby kittens from euthanasia
  • Provide an injured puppy with much needed medical attention
  • Rescue a badly neglected horse from auction

Gift of Life

Are you looking for the perfect gift for your favorite animal lover? Instead of another kitty cat sweater or doggie pillow, give the Gift of Life, a tax-deductible donation perfect for any occasion.

Save a Life

A $100 donation to Lange Foundation will help care for an animal that was recently rescued from one of the overcrowded city shelters. Your donation goes toward the high costs of bail-out fees, medical care, and other kennel related expenses.

A Special Gift

Your recipient will receive a personalized story and photo from one of the rescued pets in our care. Each card is written personally by our founder, Gillian Lange.

For Any Occasion

  • In honor of someone special
  • In memory of a loved one
  • Celebrate a birthday

Foster

Our foster program is not the traditional kind of fostering as we have our own facilities open to the public. Our healthy, adoptable animals have a better chance of finding a home when the public can easily visit them. If you are interested in traditional fostering, we encourage you to find a rescue that depends on foster families to house their adoptable animals.

The animals that need fostering are those that aren’t adoptable yet or may have special needs that cause them to be overlooked. We have two types of fostering: short-term and long-term.

Short-Term Fostering

Short-term fostering can be anywhere from a week to two months. We provide everything you need: food, dishes, toys, crates, towels, etc. You provide a safe home and plenty of love and socialization. Some examples of short-term foster care:

  • Nursing moms with litters who need a quiet environment to raise their babies.
  • Bottle babies who need constant feeding and care.
  • Puppies and kittens who are old enough to eat on their own but haven’t fully developed their immune systems and are susceptible to illness in the kennel.
  • Sick or injured animals who need a calm space to recuperate until they are ready for adoption.

Long-Term “Forever” Fostering

Forever Fostering is a very special program which allows our overlooked pets to have a real home. Long-term fostering helps re-socialize these overlooked, health challenged or senior animals. Fostering helps make these dogs and cats more appealing for adoptive families, improving their chances of finding a forever home!

For these special animals in long term foster care: We are asking for folks willing to take in these animals, agree to show them to potential adopters or bring them to adoption events.  We are asking for a life-time commitment or until the dog or cat finds a permanent home.  We will cover expenses for care and any medical needs.

In most cases, forever fostering is for the life of the pet. Our forever foster parents are extraordinarily kind people. They are compassionate, strong, and deeply loving. Often, our forever foster parents open their homes and hearts to animals with terminal illness who only have a few months left to live. They give our needy animals the precious gift of a stable, comfortable home for the remainder of their lives.

Other examples of long-term foster care:

  • Are too old or too stressed for the kennel environment
  • Are healthy but overlooked due to FIV+ or other minor medical condition
  • Have been overlooked at the kennel for a long long long time.

Interested in becoming a foster parent?

Fostering is work.

Being a foster parent can be emotionally difficult – ask any of our foster parents when their fosters are ready for adoption and they have to bring them back to us. Animals can be messy, especially the babies. We may need you to medicate your foster animals. Kittens in particular almost always need oral antibiotics. Some foster animals need to be taken to regular vet appointments.

Fostering is incredibly rewarding.

There’s nothing sweeter than kissing a puppy belly or more fun than watching a litter of kittens discover the world. If you are prepared for the reality of fostering we need you. We depend on foster parents to help us save even more animals. And while you are not required to adopt your foster animal, we recognize that falling in love is sometimes inevitable. Foster parents have first right to adopt their foster animals.

We are always available to our foster parents.

If you have questions or need anything while fostering, just let us know. We encourage foster parents to keep in touch with us.

If you are interested our foster program, please let us know. If we are in need of urgent foster parents, we typically post on our Lange Foundation Facebook.

Volunteer

Volunteers are crucial to our organization and we rely on many wonderful volunteers who dedicate their time and love to our four-legged friends.

We are always in need of people who can walk dogs, socialize with cats, and assist with the day-to-day cleaning, feeding and maintenance of the kennel. We also need folks who are willing to donate their time and expertise for specialized tasks like legal advice, graphic design, and public relations.

Our volunteers also help with fundraising mailings, organize adoption events, assist with community outreach, write articles for local press, photograph our animals, create flyers and posters, and much much more!

Kids that get involved with non-profits are instilled with the values of compassion, kindness, and giving.

Planned Giving

You love animals – their compassion and loyalty – and you know how fortunate animals are when humans step in to lend a hand and a voice when it is needed most. With thoughtful gift planning, you can continue to make a difference for the animals at Lange Foundation even after your lifetime.

It takes a substantial amount of resources to run and maintain Lange Foundation. Community support is vital to ensuring that our organization continues to thrive and be a community resource for many more years to come.

Caring philanthropists who have Lange Foundation in their estate plans through wills, trusts, charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, or other planned gifts, provide care and services for thousands of homeless animals each year while they wait for us to find them homes of their own. Because of your generous support Lange continues to be the safety net for lost and abandoned companion animals in our community.

A planned gift can be long-remembered testimony to your support of Lange and your desire that it will carry on its purpose after you are gone.

Some of the ways to honor Lange’s mission include:

  • Naming Lange Foundation as a beneficiary in your will or revocable living trust.
  • Creating a charitable trust.
  • A gift of real estate. Your real property may be gifted to our organization by executing or signing a deed transferring ownership. You may deed part or all of your real property to our organization. Your gift will generally be based on the property’s fair market value, which must be established by an independent appraisal.
  • Making a gift of cash or appreciated securities to establish a charitable gift annuity. A gift of appreciated securities can have a variety of potential benefits such as avoidance of capital gains tax, a charitable income tax deduction, and possible increased income.
  • Naming Lange Foundation as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement account. A retirement asset, such as an IRA account, makes an excellent bequest to us. If the IRA were given to your family, much of the value may be lost through estate and income taxes. By designating a charity as the beneficiary of all or part of your IRA, the full value of the gift is transferred tax-free at your death and your estate receives an estate tax charitable deduction. Your retirement assets may be transferred to Lange Foundation by completing a beneficiary designation form provided by your plan custodian.

Benefits of your gift:

  • Receive an estate tax deduction.
  • Receive an income tax deduction.
  • Lessen the burden of taxes on your family.
  • Leave a lasting legacy.
